Meadow Barn has a very large kitchen which is attractively designed and very well equipped for it has all the necessary cutlery and crockery for a large party. There are very spacious granite worktops which include a large island unit. There are 2 gas stoves 2 fridges a freezer and a dishwasher.

This fully beamed dining area can seat up to 17. For special occasions, arrangements can be made for celebration meals to be delivered to the door.

Pre-order your shopping from Waitrose in Monmouth. This can be done for the day of your arrival, and we will put chilled and frozen food in the fridges and freezer ready for you. Please remember to give the name of “Meadow Barn” when making your order.

Meadow Barn Bedroom Accommodation

There are 6 ensuite bedrooms with sleeping acommodation for up to 14.  We can provide 2 travel cots and two high chairs by arrangements - Please bring your own bedding for cots and baby towels. The comfortable ensuite bedrooms have divan beds and TVs.  The three bedrooms on the ground floor have ensuite shower rooms, two are twin rooms. One, has a 5ft. king size bed and has wheelchair access, a wet room with a shower seat.

Upstairs each bedroom is ensuite. A three single bedded room with a bathroom. One double with a 5ft king size bed, also a single bed and shower. Another has a double bed and bathroom. The bathrooms on the first floor have shower attachments over the bath.

Each bedroom is unique; with thick oak beams and beautiful views from the windows. There is full oil fired central heating. Towels, duvets and bedlinen are included. At Meadow Barn everything is done to make guests as comfortable as possible.

Local Activities

The surrounding area around Meadow Barn is extremely beautiful. The Wye Valley, the Black Mountains, Brecon Beacons and Malvern Hills all being easily accessible.

Amongst the many pursuits in the area, there is bicycle hire in the Forest of Dean as well as pony trekking and gliding in the Black Mountains. Go climbing, abseiling and caving. For water sports the River Wye, canoeing is very popular. There are 20 golf courses and, at least, 8 castles to explore within a 20 mile radius. There is an outdoor pursuits centre which will arrange tailor made activities specially for you and your group. This includes collecting you and your party from Meadow Barn.

Or if your interests are less active, there are local wines and ciders to taste, good local food producers, award winning restaurants and food festivals to visit. There are bookshops and literary and music festivals to visit, Cathedrals and Abbeys to view, attractive local gardens in which to wander, and long or short walks from the doors of Meadow Barn.

Outdoor Facilities

There is a very large area of grass around Meadow Barn. This is ideal for croquet, outdoor skittles, and rounders. There is a sun terrace, picnic tables, and a large barbeque. Pleasant sheltered corners in the gardens give opportunities to sit and enjoy the views, the roses, and the bird life. Buzzards and Owls are a very common sight. No roads pass the door and the barn is surrounded by fields and apples trees. See our Photo Gallery

There is a fenced pond, with a gate, by the Meadow Barn garden.
The dining area of Meadow Barn is perfect for entertaining, and food for celebration meals can be delivered to the door - please enquire for details.

Facilities: Microwave, Charcoal BBQ  - Please remember to bring your own charcoal.

Hot Tub:  Available on request

Disabled Facilities: Disabled access to barn and a downstairs bedroom.
Heating Oil is included. The first basket of logs for the wood burning stove is also included, and more logs are available to buy locally.
Pets Up to 3 well-behaved pets allowed @ £20 per pet. Please ensure that pets are not left unattended.
Smoking: No smoking in the building.
Candles: For safety reasons no candles are allowed in the building
Nearest Shops/Supermarkets: Waitrose in Monmouth, 6 miles. Petrol, groceries at Broad Oak, a quarter of a mile. Post Office and papers, St. Weonards 3 miles.
Nearest Pubs/Bar/Restaurant:

  • The Stone Mill, Rockfield, is a converted barn & has delicious food - 6 miles;
  • The Walnut Tree near Abergavenny, fine food, awarded a Michelin Star in 2010 - 10 miles;
  • The Bell Inn, Skenfrith, award winning Welsh food and ales is next to picturesque Skenfrith
    Castle and the River Monnow - 2 miles.
  • The Garway Moon Inn, a friendly pub which serves good food, stands by Garway Common.
    It has a play area and pleasant views- 2 miles.

    the lovely local rolling countryside

pre-booking for any food, especially when large numbers are involved.
